find their songs okay ("Far Away" and "Savin Me" I quite like). I
understand someone who goes, "Meh. Just not my taste in music." but
more often than not I find comments/forums/vidoes/parodies online
mocking or raging against Nickleback and I am a bit stumped.
Nickleback is not necesarrily terrible, nor have they done/said
anything outrageous (to my knowledge). To me, they're just another
band, so what is it about them that generates such strong resentment,
more than with other bands?

*I get that everyone has an opinion. My question isn't so much "Why do
you like/dislike Nickelback?" as it is "Why do people target
Nickelback when there are other bands out there that are (to me)
pretty much on the same level? There are plenty of generic bands out
there, yet they don't get as much hate as Nickelback."
